A Subway in Didcot that was slammed with a low hygiene rating now has FIVE stars.

The branch at 154 Broadway was given a one-out-of-five-star rating after an inspection in February.

This suggested that major improvement was necessary at the fast-food sandwich bar.

The report noted that waste was accumulating at the back door and that the under the service counter was dirty and required thorough cleaning.

The inspector also reported that the freezer was leaking, and that water had begun to pool on the floor.

Staff at the Subway had been advised that the fridge must be below 5C but at the inspection it was found to be at 6.8C.

The inspector found that raw onions were being stored above ready to eat meat products.

A new inspection took place on April 14.

The branch was given a five-out-of-five-star rating, suggesting that food hygiene was very good at the sandwich bar.
