An inquest has been opened into the death of a woman killed on a railway line near Banbury.

Gloria Kisley, 82, of Hill View Crescent, Banbury, was crossing the tracks on March 29 when she was struck by a train near Claydon, Oxford Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday (April 12).

At the time, British Transport Police said its officers and paramedics were called to the scene at 11.39am following reports of a casualty on the tracks at the crossing.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service firefighters from Banbury and Hook Norton fire stations attended together with colleagues from Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire fire services.

Senior coroner for Oxfordshire Darren Salter said she was identified from her fingerprints by a British Transport Police specialist.

A post-mortem had ruled the cause of her death to be ’multiple injuries’.

A full inquest will be held on August 23.
