An annual cycle ride in memory of a teenager who died in a hit and run will carry on.

The future of the fifth memorial ride for David Jones, left - or DJ as he was known to friends - was in doubt after the 17-year-old's father Charlie found the cost of the event too much.

Hundreds of cyclists gather at Abingdon United football ground each June to hold bike trials in memory of David, who was killed in May 2004 by an underage driver in a stolen car.

But people have now offered to help fund the costs of the event, which includes a visit a memorial at Fitzharrys School, where David was a pupil.
