An ‘incident’ near an Oxfordshire town has caused major train cancellations and delays of up to an hour.

All lines are blocked between Leamington Spa and Banbury while emergency services deal with the incident.

The disruption is expected to last until 2pm today.

Cancelled trains include the 12:08pm train from Banbury to Birmingham Moor Street, the 12:28pm to Newcastle via Doncaster, and the 1:08pm to Birmingham Moor Street

Delayed trains include the 12:58pm from Banbury to Manchester Piccadilly via Coventry and Stoke-on-Trent and the 1:40pm Banbury to Birmingham Snow Hill.

Road transport is in the process of being booked to convey passengers between the two stations in both directions.

Railways tickets are being accepted on West Midlands Railway, Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry trains via any reasonable route until further notice.

Chiltern Railway have apologised for the disruption and reminded passengers they are entitled to a refund if they have been delayed by 15 minutes or more.
