Thames Valley Police said it is investigating the collision and are appealing to the public for witnesses to the collision.

Senior investigating officer, sergeant James Surman of the Joint Operations Roads Police Unit, which is based in Bicester, said: “We are investigating this collision in which a man has received serious injuries.

“We are appealing for the public’s assistance and would ask anyone with information or dash-cam footage to please get in touch.”

The collision forced the emergency closure of the road.

But an Oxford Mail reporter at the scene confirmed traffic was free flowing again by 5:30pm when the road was cleared.

Thames Travel said it was diverting its X39 & X40 services via Shillingford Road and Wallingford Road in response to the incident.

They also confirmed their services to any stops between Shillingford and Wallingford in both directions had stopped.

Police have urged anyone with information to call 101 and quote reference 0775 of 27/03/23.
