A retired construction worker died after falling down the stairs while visiting family in Kidlington.

Eugen Bortila, 69, from north east Romania, was staying at a property in Green Road in the UK visiting family last autumn.

His inquest this week heard that, on September 5, he fell down the stairs while drunk and suffered an injury to his spine.

Senior coroner Darren Salter said: “He suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced deceased at the John Radcliffe Hospital.”

Mr Bortila’s death was ruled accidental. His medical cause of death was given as cervical spine injury and alcohol intoxication.
