A man introduced to pornography by his boarding school roommate was spared a jail sentence.

Nicholas Bull, 25, was caught with indecent images and ‘animal porn’ after police visited his home in July 2022 acting on a tip off from the National Crime Agency, Oxford Magistrates’ Court heard last month.

Interviewed by specialist police officers, he said he had been ‘introduced at boarding school by his roommate, started to view adult pornography and progressed’ into looking at images of children.

Bull, of Pixey Close, Yarnton, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography involving sexual activity between people and animals.

In total, his collection amounted to more than 1,000 images in categories A to C. He had 20 extreme pornographic images.

Appearing before Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday (March 22), he was given a three year community order by Recorder John Hardy KC.

As part of the order he must do 100 hours of unpaid work, up to 60 rehabilitation activity requirement sessions and pay £425 in prosecution costs.

He will be a registered sex offender for five years and must abide by a five-year sexual harm prevention order limiting his access to the web.
