GP services at an Oxford medical centre are in jeopardy after the partners issued a 6-month notice period for the services at the centre.

Botley Medical Centre currently provides GP services to 13,400 registered patients.

The Integrated Care Board (ICB) who is in charge of commissioning care has assured that services will continue as normal during the notice period.

In a letter to MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, Layla Moran, the ICB also highlighted their intention to keep services running at the Botley Medical Centre in the long term.

They added that they are seeking a new partner for the centre.

The notice period has been in effect since March 2.

It comes following the decision of the current partners Dr Aintzane Ballestero and Dr Diana McEwan to culminate their work at the centre.

The two doctors faced several challenging years after they were unable to find a new partner to take on the workload of Dr Mary Akinola who retired.

Patients will be contacted about the decision from tomorrow (March 14).

Those that are currently registered at the centre, will have the opportunity of moving to another practice.

Layla Moran MP said on Twitter: “I know this is concerning news for local people.

She added that she will be seeking a meeting with the Integrated Care Boards to discuss her constituents concerns about the GP services at Botley Medical Centre.
