This is the e-fit of a man wanted in connection with a distraction burglary in Blackbird Leys last month, police said today.

Two men claiming to be undercover police officers tricked their way into a couple's home in Balfour Road on Friday, May 30, between 5.45pm and 6pm.

The men told Ernie Stewart, 75, and his wife Jackie 68, they had been victims of a burglary.

They told the couple they had caught one of the burglars but that he had escaped and they needed to check if anything was missing from their bedroom.

The men are white, aged between 35 and 40, and spoke with local accents.

The first offender was short and looked scruffy. He was dressed in a dark coloured sweatshirt, dark trousers and dark shoes.

The second offender was taller, with dark scruffy hair and stubble on his face. He wore a blue and white checked shirt and dark trousers.

Dc Jim Holmes, of Thames Valley Police, urged anyone who recognised the man to come forward and for homeowners to remain vigilant.

He said: "After the men had left the house the occupants noticed a large amount of cash had been stolen.

"I appeal to anyone who was in the area that afternoon and witnessed two men of these descriptions, acting suspiciously, to contact police."

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
