The husband of a woman in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's described the moment he saw her wander into oncoming traffic.

Retired Henry Box School art and technology teacher Christine Diacon, who was 60, died after a collision with a car on the B4022 sliproad from the A40 at South Leigh, near Witney, on November 15, 2007.

At an inquest in Oxford today, her husband Graham, of South Leigh Road, said his wife had been suffering from Alzheimer's since the late 1990s.

He said he went to look for her after he could not find her in the house. He saw her on the far side of the road, and watched as she walked in front of a car.

Coroner Nicholas Gardiner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
