Did your children dress up for World Book Day? Send us your photos

This year's World Book Day took place on Thursday.

Over the years, the Oxford Mail has enjoyed sharing photos of young readers dressed up as their favourite book characters.

Some parents have already started sending in photos, including Susan Conway from Cowley.

She sent in a photo of daughter Kaiti Farraku, 11, who dressed up as The Max Hatter.

World Book Day is a charity with the aim to help change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.

The organisation says that reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator for success in life - more than family circumstances, educational background, or income.

A spokesperson said earlier: "Sharing stories together for just 10 minutes a day will encourage a love of reading and it’s fun for everyone! You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time."

Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.
