A creative pupil who won a competition to design the livery for a brand-new delivery lorry saw the truck roll up outside her school.

Food wholesaler Bidfood launched a competition for its employees to win a £500 shopping voucher by coming up with a design to be printed all over its fleet of HGVs.

Maggie-May, whose mum works for Bidfood and who was only eight at the time, submitted a drawing of a chocolate chip cookie castle, which was used to inspire a winter castle scene.

Bidfood organised a surprise reveal for her by driving the brand new lorry to her school, Leafield Primary, last Friday.

Mum Ashley Bull, a Telesales and Customer Services Manager at Bidfood Bicester, said: “Maggie-May was absolutely delighted to see her design on the lorry and even happier to share this experience with her classmates!

“She loved taking part in the competition during her summer holiday last year, she worked really hard on her drawing.

"She was very pleased with how her drawing was adapted to create the castle landscape and is thrilled to know that it will be on Bidfood lorries all over the country.”

The design was one of four sent to Magenta Photographic Studios in Newcastle.

For three weeks, professional food artists worked to physically build the design using products and ingredients from Bidfood which was then pictured.

Shaun Yates, Head of Sales, added: “It was fantastic to not only see Maggie-May’s reaction to the lorry pulling up outside the school, but to also see how much excitement it created when the rest of the school was allowed out to view it too.”
