An Oxford care home is calling on the community to send a resident 100 cards to mark her bringing up her century.

Diana Moss will celebrate her 100th birthday on February 15 at Green Gates Bupa Care Home in Summertown.

The initiative has been organised by activities co-ordinator Deborah Ryan and senior care assistant Louise De Fraine.

Ms De Fraine said: “Diana is a lovely lady who is full of character.

“She loves getting stuck into activities at the home and has made many friends since moving here.

“We want to make her upcoming birthday as special as she is with lots of birthday cards.

“We’re hoping the people of Oxford will get involved and help bring a big smile to her face.”

Other activities that have been organised for her birthday include a performance by the Carousel Theatre group and a lunch out with her family.

Diana was recently asked what her secret to a long life was and she explained that it was a gin and tonic at 6 o’clock sharp every evening.

She is a proud mother of three, grandmother of five and great grandmother of one.

Diana loved gardening at her family home and still describes herself as a huge animal lover.
