Not all closures are permanent.

Last month, the owner of Temple Lounge, an Asian restaurant off Cowley Road, contacted me to say he has been forced to close permanently - and he blamed the LTNs as a major cause.

The restaurant boss got in touch after we ran a piece outlining how popular independent diner Atomic Burger had also shut.

Now it turns out that the owner has managed to get someone else to run a restaurant there and it will open soon.

The former Jamie's Italian in George Street, which has been closed since 2019, could also reopen, as major refurbishment work has been taking place, and a business has taken up the option of running the premises, according to the council.

But the council is not giving much away - the identity of the new tenants is not being revealed.

So the makeover may be no more than necessary maintenance work.

It would be a shame if the building was left empty for much longer as it is in a very busy location and £770,000 has now been spent on its upkeep.
