Members of the public have come forward with concerns about fly-tipping at a waterway which has recently become much worse in Bicester.

And one active litter picker has claimed he was threatened by a group of teens as he tried to tidy up the town.

Jeff Andrew, from Bicester, sent in pictures to this newspaper of the fly-tipping taking place at a waterway that runs across Boston Road in the Glory Farm area of Bicester.

Mr Andrew said: “It’s a long running saga. We’ve tried desperately to get help and clear up the fly-tipping that of late has just got worse and worse.

“Victoria Prentis is involved and hopefully will push the clean-up forward. To be honest I’m not hopeful.

“Where do we go from here? I’ve been trying to sort this out for over 20 years and all it’s becoming is worse.”

Jamie Jessett, founder of Bicester Litter Pickers, also shared some unwelcome news which took place over the weekend.

On Saturday, Mr Jessett was litter picking around Superdrug and B&M on Sheep Street, in Bicester, when he was approached by a group of young men who shouted verbal abuse at him.

Mr Jessett said: “I received a lot of verbal abuse. They called me a nonce and a tramp, and they were throwing litter around and engaging in threatening behaviour.

“They followed me into shops and continued to shout horrible things.

“I took a photo of them and they ran away after that.”
