Residents from Eynsham, Freeland, Long Hanborough and Church Hanborough will be able to enjoy FREE bus travel on the 411 bus service from January 16 - 20.

The week will also mark the First and Last Mile 411 service entering into its second year of operation helping to reconnect local villages since the removal of the Stagecoach number 11 bus service back in 2020.

The free bus service is being funded by County Councillor Liam Walker, who represents the villages of Freeland and Church Hanborough, from his allocation of the Councillor Priority Fund.

David Miles, a director of First and Last Mile, said: "After one year of serving Freeland and Hanborough we are delighted to have this opportunity for both existing and new passengers to celebrate with a week of free travel for everyone on the 411 courtesy of the Councillor Priority Fund.

"We have endeavoured to provide high quality services at low cost to the taxpayer and to help support the local economy.

"This is a bus service for the community, and we are honoured to serve the villages on route."

Mr Walker said First and Last Mile "are doing a brilliant job making sure our rural communities are connected in this part of West Oxfordshire".

He said: "I am hoping that by running the bus free for a week it will be an opportunity to encourage new passengers to the service.

"The more people that use our local bus services the better this will be for reducing congestion, the environment, and making sure the bus has a sustainable future as without passengers these services can't run.

"Please give the bus a go!"

The two hourly service runs Monday to Friday and you view timetables on the First and Last Mile website: www.firstandlastmile.org.uk
