Emergency services had to race to the scene of an incident after a cocaine-positive driver crashed their vehicle.

Crews from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue, Thames Valley Police and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance scrambled to the scene of an incident on the A417 near Buscot, which is four miles from Faringdon.

The crash, which involved just one vehicle, left the driver with just minor injuries.

However, the motorist was tested using a drug wipe and returned a positive result for cocaine.

Under the law, if you are convicted of drug driving you may get:

  • a minimum one year driving ban
  • an unlimited fine
  • up to six months in prison
  • a criminal record

Your driving licence will also show you have been convicted for drug driving.

This will last for 11 years.

The maximum penalty for causing death by careless driving under the influence of drugs is life imprisonment.
