The management team of a popular West Oxfordshire pub are on the move.

Stewart and Jemma Traynor and their team are leaving The Plough in Alvescot and will be taking over The Talbot in Eynsham.

The couple, who have been at the Plough for nearly 10 years, said they are "very excited to be working with Arkells Brewery, and having a riverside pub with letting rooms".

They posted on Facebook: "This is it, the news most people already know, but at the end of January 2023 we will be leaving the Plough and moving on to a fresh challenge.

"We will take all the knowledge and experience from being here for three-quarters of a decade to make the Talbot a truly exceptional pub set in the heart of Oxfordshire next to the Thames.

"I am looking forward to developing our outstanding team even further, serving the same high quality food and creating the professional yet informal atmosphere which makes pubs special places to be."

The Plough is described as "a popular pub" with "an enviable reputation for the consistent quality of their catering and customer service" by Wadworth, who are advertising for a new tenant.

The Talbot, which has 11 guest bedrooms and sits next to the river near Swinford Toll Bridge, is being refurbished over the winter and will reopen in early March 2023.
