We list some of the city's top Italian restaurants, according to influential reviews site Tripadvisor.

In top spot, one of Oxford’s firm favourites – BBuona Pinsa Bar.

Richard B, who ate their recently, said: “Chilled, authentic Italian atmosphere, friendly service and wonderful starter and pizza.

“Best pizza we have had. Highly recommend.”

In second place is La Cucina, in St Clements.

A recent diner, Jeremy L, said of his experience: “Amazing authentic Italian food, friendly and helpful staff, very prompt service and great value for money.

“Don’t leave Oxford without trying it.”

Coming in at third place is Mamma Mia Pizza in the South Parade.

Andrew G said: “Really enjoyed our meal here again. our fourth or fifth visit.

“The starters, authentic pizzas and desserts are as good as ever and there’s a very nice friendly atmosphere.

Up in the top five and coming in at number four is Sartorelli’s Pizza in the covered market.

Phil T, who was visiting Oxford yesterday (10/12) said: “A great little restaurant with good quality food at a fair price in a good location.

“Friendly staff. Fresh ingredients with great taste.”

At number five we have Bella Italia, on George Street.

Phil B, who ate at the restaurant last week, said: “The meal was delicious and a very reasonable price.

“When the dessert was brought to us the charming waitress, Eleonora, had gone to the trouble of adding a candle and singing happy birthday.

“A lovely touch and made the meal special.”
