A NEW charity shop in opening in Wallingford.

Mercy in Action, which is a charity committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, is opening up in Market Place.

It operates in the UK and the Philippines and helps to provide housing, care, food, and education to people in need.

The charity owns shops across the UK to help raise money for its cause.

The new Wallingford branch will be opening in the old Barclays bank premise after it closed in August last year.

It is one of three banks to close in the town with Natwest, in High Street, closing in 2017 and Lloyds, in Market Place, set to close in January next year.
