A hotel in Oxfordshire has scored a coveted place in a list of the Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK.

The Wild Rabbit in Kingham near Chipping Norton is the only venue in the county to score a place on the list, which is compiled by 100 judges who are key people in the hospitality industry.

The judges come from leading hotel businesses, editors of key media brands and travel writers who are geographically spread across the UK to ensure no regional bias.

“Our aim is to provide a source to recognise the best boutique hotels in UK and to help people discover these unique and diverse places to stay,” a spokesperson said.

Coming in 31st position, The White Rabbit boasts 15 rooms and an award-winning kitchen.

The name is a nod to its original title: Conygree Farm – an Anglo Saxon word meaning rabbit enclosure.

Work on the venue began in 2013, In the restored bar they kept the original stone mullioned windows, low ceilings and two magnificent fireplaces.

Chestnut panels surround the length of the bar, where the staff serve artisan beers and traditional ales.

The kitchen serves a modern British menu.

While there are a few nods to classic pub food,  the menu is mainly inspired by the best seasonal produce from local farmers.

Many of the ingredients are picked daily from The Wild Rabbit’s own market garden at Daylesford farm.

The Top 50 Boutique Hotels also publishes Top 50 Gastropubs, which has been in existence since 2009, and Top 50 Cocktail Bars, which was launched in 2018.
