The Prince of Burford has reopened and unveiled its new Cotswold country house look.

The former Cotswold Gateway Hotel has been transformed with wood panelled walls, exposed beams and Arts and Crafts-inspired wallpapers.

There are grand fireplaces, banquette seating and velvet cocktail chairs with equestrian-themed art lit by dramatic chandeliers.

All 16 guest rooms and ensuite bathrooms have been remodelled each with its own luxurious style with high-end bathrooms, home baked treats and 'take home' toiletries.

Oxford Mail:

General manager Chris Young said: “We’re incredibly proud of the new look.  It’s quite a transformation from the previous incarnation and we’re hoping locals and new visitors will enjoy the changes we’ve made to the décor and the addition of our award-winning food and drink offering.

"A warm welcome awaits all our guests and with Christmas just around the corner, we’re the perfect setting to relax, come together and celebrate with loved ones.”

Downstairs there is a new wood panelled bar with copper gantries and a tiled back which is part of a new casual area with snug and reception.

This leads to a new, more elegant dining space and restaurant lit with chandeliers.

Along with landscaping and planting there is a timber built, covered pergola and large decked area for alfresco dining and drinking.

New owners Butcombe Pubs & Inns (part of Liberation Group) say it will remain "very much a ‘proper pub’ for locals and visitors alike".

Oxford Mail:

The menu will feature locally sourced produce, seasonal ingredients and elevated pub classics with a twist.

The bar will stock a wide range of Butcombe Brewing Co’s beers, lager and cider, a curated wine list, premium spirits and a great selection of cocktails.
