KING Charles III has a response to Oxfordshire County Council’s letter of condolence following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The death of the monarch shocked the nation in September this year after her reign of almost 71 years.

Chair of the council, Susannah Pressel, sent a letter to His Majesty expressing the condolences of the council and the people of Oxfordshire.

She said: “The Queen was a truly remarkable individual, whose dedication throughout her reign was exemplary and who embodied the values we hold so dear of public service, commitment and constancy.

“We will remember her with tremendous affection and gratitude, and we share the sense of profound loss and grief that is felt around the country, the Commonwealth and the world.

“Please extend our most heartfelt sympathies to His Majesty the King and his family at this extremely sad time.”

In response to the letter, the monarch responded: “It was so very kind of you to send me such a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved mother.

“Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow - King Charles III.”
