A CHRISTMAS grotto and market is returning to the Westgate in Oxford this year.

Tickets for the event, which is called ‘Believe’, are now on sale. It opens from December 1 until Christmas Eve.

‘Believe’ guests will be welcomed into a ‘mystical cavern’ where they’ll meet one of Santa’s most trusted elves, along with Norbert, his reindeer friend.

After hearing Norbert’s story, the children will take part in a festive craft activity decorating their own bag of reindeer food to take home with them.

Families will then be invited into Santa’s grotto where children will meet Santa before receiving a gift and having a photograph taken.

The event will be located at Leiden Square within the centre. Tickets cost £12.50 per child and £5.50 per adult.

Westgate Oxford will also see the return of ‘The Christmas Market’, opening next to ‘Believe’ in Leiden Square from November 17 until December 31.

It will be open everyday from 10am and will include items such as personalised Christmas decorations, specialty cheeses, candles, and a new churros stand.

There will also be warm mulled wine and German sausage.

Brendan Hattam, centre director at Westgate Oxford, said: “Both festivities are a great way for us to share the Christmas spirit with our guests and are fast-becoming local traditions.”
