An Oxford MP has said the impacts a huge new solar farm in the county could have on the green belt must be considered when making a decision on the plans.

Yesterday (November 3) Photovolt Development Partners (PVDP) launched the first phase of its community consultation for Botley West Solar Farm.

The project, set across three sites in Oxfordshire, could power more than 300,000 homes, the developer says.

Oxford West and Abingdon MP Layla Moran said: “Building more renewable energy will help establish the UK as a world leader in renewables. It will also help improve the UK's energy security, reduce energy bills across the country, and help us progress towards achieving net zero.

“It is also important that the impact of any new solar plant on the green belt must be considered.

“I will be studying all details of this proposal carefully and am listening to local residents and councillors. I will make sure the concerns of our local community are heard.”
