Plans have been submitted to Oxford City Council for a new coffee shop in the city centre.

The Fruitful Design Consultancy, on behalf of Conilon Ltd, have submitted plans to refurbish the ground floor, basement and sub-basement levels of 141 High Street and turn it into a Black Sheep Coffee branch.

Black Sheep Coffee was founded in 2013 by Gabriel Shohet and Eirik Holth and now has dozens of shops across the country.

Oxford already has one Black Sheep Coffee branch in George Street.

141 High Street, which is located in the Grade II* listed building comprising of the Town Hall, municipal buildings and library, was previously occupied by The Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

The unit has been vacant since 2020, when the business went into administration.

The applicant states the entire unit will be stripped out and refitted alongside this the existing signage will be removed and replaced.

The signage is subject to a separate Advertising Consent application.
