Tributes are being paid to former Oxford Mail editor Eddie Duller OBE who has died.

Mr Duller, who lived in Summertown with his wife, was editor for nine years until his retirement in 1994.

He became chairman of health watchdog Healthwatch Oxfordshire in 2015, when he was 78.

He told the Oxford Mail at the time: "The problem we are having with the health service and social care is probably in part due to the fact that the general public does not really understand exactly how the NHS works."

His colleagues at Healthwatch Oxfordshire paid tribute to him today.

Rosalind Pearce, executive director of Healthwatch Oxfordshire, said: “Eddie as Chair of Healthwatch Oxfordshire was passionate about how we and the health and care authorities communicated with people – plain English was his motto!

"Under his guidance Healthwatch Oxfordshire grew into being an organisation that listened to people and made sure they were heard by those organisations that commission and deliver health and care services in Oxfordshire.”
