An electric vehicle (EV) start-up has made its first van following financial troubles that put its other vehicles on halt.

British EV start-up Arrival has produced its first electric van at its plant in Bicester, which will not be available for customer purchase.

Instead, the vehicle will become a ‘delta’ test model to be used for testing purposes, including range testing.

The company said two months ago that it would only make 20 vans at the Bicester factory this year, less than its April prediction of 400 to 600, however it was hit with a cash crunch that meant it had to pause the development of its electric bus and ride-hailing car.

The company’s website states: “We are reinventing both the design and production of electric vehicles for end-to-end sustainability.”
