The word Oxford is known around the world and not just because of our beautiful city with its dreaming spires.

Of course, there’ the world-famous University of Oxford, the Oxford English Dictionary, the Oxford comma, and countless town and cities across the globe.

There are towns called Oxford in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado and many more states in the US, but there are also Oxfords in New Zealand, Barbados and Brazil – plus many other parts of the world.

But now Oxford is once again being linked with one of the world’s most notorious killers – Jeffrey Dahmer.

Police discovered 11 bodies in Dahmer’s Milwaukee-based apartment – Apartment 213 – giving the serial killer the nickname ‘The Milwaukee Cannibal’.

When Dahmer moved into this apartment in 1990, he took the scalp and penis of his fifth victim, Anthony Sears, with him.

He was arrested in 1992, and the apartment complex was torn down some months later.

The name of the accommodation? The Oxford Apartments.

Home to the killer for 14 months, The Oxford Apartments were located in a poor area, with a high crime rate and affordable rents.

Dahmer is gaining notoriety once again because of the recent series brought out on Netflix, titled Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

After Netflix released the miniseries, on September 21, it became the streaming site’s most-watched title of the week and its biggest-ever series debut.

Searches for the word Oxford, followed by the word ‘apartment’, have, naturally, shot up since the shows release.
