A man accused of importing sperm whale teeth has been released from the police station.
The 49-year-old was arrested earlier this week, when officers from Thames Valley Police’s rural crime task force and the UK National Wildlife Crime Unit said they seized £18,350-worth of sperm whale teeth from a property in Grove.
The force said it was believed to be the UK’s largest seizure of teeth from that breed of whale. It is illegal to sell whale teeth without a permit.
A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police confirmed that the arrested man has now been released under investigation.
