A shoplifter has been given a 12 week suspended sentence.
Andrew Silver, 39, of Queens Road, Carterton, went into a shop in High Street, Banbury, on Wednesday, September 28. He put a number of items in a bag then walked out the shops without paying.
When police officers caught up with him, they searched him and retrieved a pair of pliers.
Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court this week, Silver pleaded guilty to theft and going equipped for theft, Thames Valley Police said. He was given 12 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for a year.
Investigating officer PC Cory Fastnedge, said: “Silver was intent on going equipped to steal but also took an opportunity to shoplift.
“He has now been sentenced and will be put under a curfew.”
