A major expansion and redevelopment of housing for Oxford NHS workers is set to continue.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) and housing provider A2Dominion are working together on the scheme, with the project described as essential for recruiting and retaining staff.

A2Dominion has signed a contract with The Hill Group to build 125 flats in Ivy Lane, Headington, for at least 340 workers from the neighbouring John Radcliffe Hospital.

Due for completion in October 2025, the scheme will replace the existing Ivy Lane accommodation and will include seven new apartment buildings from three to five storeys high.

The site is made up of 68 apartments and 57 'cluster units', each comprising either four or five bedrooms and a communal kitchen.

The scheme also includes facilities such as management offices, a meeting area, bike and car parking, and landscaped communal green open space.

A2Dominion is also redeveloping existing accommodation at Churchill Drive for the Churchill Hospital, also in Headington.

The remaining residents at Ivy Lane will be moved there during the works.

The development consists of 19 flats, providing 91 en-suite rooms for OUH staff.

Jo Evans, Director of Specialist Housing at A2Dominion, said: "We selected The Hill Group as our development partner... due to their impressive regeneration experience, knowledge of the local area and strong sustainability credentials.

"They will be delivering this essential scheme to replace outdated accommodation with high quality, energy efficient homes that meet the needs of key workers in our local hospitals."

Work on Ivy Lane is due to start in the autumn.

It will be Hill's eighth residential development in Oxfordshire, following its work at Mosaics on Barton Park, and Newman Place in Littlemore.

Hill is also working on infrastructure and residential development at the controversial Oxford North development which will see a large new housing and office district built on a greenfield site near the Wolvercote Roundabout.
