London Marathon runners from Oxford can travel free to the big race this Sunday on Oxford Tube.

The 24-hour coach service which runs from Oxford to London will offer free return travel to marathon runners on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October 2022.

Train drivers at 12 rail companies represented by the Aslef union are to strike on Saturday October 1.

All participants need to do is show their race number, badge or certificate (or any other official race identification) when boarding to qualify for complimentary return travel.

The Oxford Tube runs up to every 12-15 minutes, 24 hours a day.

Rachel Geliamassi, Managing Director, Stagecoach West and Oxford Tube, said: “We’re delighted to be able to play our part in supporting anyone from Oxfordshire running in this year’s London Marathon - you’re all incredible!

"We’d like to offer a free, comfortable ride there and back as a way of showing our admiration of these amazing runners, many of whom have raised money for local charities.

"I’d like to wish all runners the very best of luck for what I’m sure will be an amazing day.”

Oxford Tube advises London Marathon runners using its services to allow plenty of time to get to the start line.

There are three assembly points for 2022 which are all accessible from Victoria Station via rail and London Underground services.

Free travel is only valid on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October 2022.
