A DIGITAL exhibition is being held on the proposed improvements to the A423 at Kennington.

The proposed improvements include the replacement of the existing Kennington rail bridge structure, allowing for a new eastbound bus lane and a shared use path on the north side for cycling and walking.

Local people are being encouraged to attend the exhibition, which is hosted by Oxfordshire County Council on the council’s engagement platform, “Let’s Talk Oxfordshire”.

The council is also hosting four in-person sessions today (September 28) and tomorrow.

Councillor Duncan Enright, cabinet member for travel and development strategy, said: “The A423 Kennington programme will not only make improvements to this major road for now, but also make it fit for the future.

“The rail bridge will be made safe and upgraded with increased provision for walking and cycling and all the while, supporting the aims of the OFAS.

“However, we do understand that in the short-term these works will impact the lives of people who use this route.

“This is why we’re encouraging people to visit the digital exhibition and attend our drop-in sessions to better understand our plans and tell us how we can best keep them up to date during the construction phase.”

Construction is expected to take place between 2023 and 2026 with the bridge never being fully closed to traffic but being replaced one half at a time.
