Fears have surfaced over potential flood risks from the proposed £30.5m college redevelopment in Witney.
The Environment Agency has said it will object to the plans when they go before district councillors on Monday unless Abingdon and Witney College comes up with a better system to deal with run-off rainwater at the new town centre campus. The main concern centres on surface water and sewers backing up on the corner of High Street and Welch Way.
Last summer Witney was badly hit when the River Windrush burst its banks and drainage systems were unable to cope with surface rainwater.
Yesterday the college said it was modifying its plans to deal with the issues.
Steve Billcliffe, college director of development, said: "We are still expecting the green light and no delay on the timescale for the campus.
"We are aware of the need to make adjustments to reduce the impact of floodwater and and run-off."
