A first-of-its-kind 24-hour, unstaffed restaurant is set to come to Oxford later this year.

EZ 24 Ramen will have no serving staff, no booking system and no food waits, with customers able to enjoy ramen – a Japanese noodle dish - 24 hours a day.

The concept of EZ 24 Ramen grew from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic which saw more people working remotely and looking for a contactless experience.

The venue aims to offer a ‘different’ experience to customers than they would get in a traditional restaurant.

EZ 24 Ramen uses a paid subscription system – from £1.70 a day - which gives customers access to the building.

From there you enter the store, grab whatever noodles you want on display and then customise it with a range of toppings, including pickles, kimchi, enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, fishcake and more.

Special machines then cook the noodles in front of you in three minutes.

The Oxford store will also feature vending machines selling drinks and local business products, from ice cream to meal kits.

As well as this, there will be a pinball and arcade machines and plenty of plug sockets so people can set up their laptops, phones or handheld consoles.

Indra Tor, co-founder of EZ 24 Ramen said: "I wanted to create a forward-thinking place that looks at how people live their lives today.

“The world has changed, and people's habits are different.

“EZ Ramen is about being forward-thinking about technology and how we can create a restaurant that is different and embraces new things but also allow people to learn.

“There's a lot of negatively sometimes around new tech, and we want to show people in an organic setting that if done right, the tech can be used to great effect and of course serve them some good ramen."

Alongside the food, the restaurant will bring digital art in the form of NFTs (non-fungible token), digital assets which are considered modern-day collectibles.

The Oxford store will have an art gallery, featuring 44 artists worldwide, when it opens—allowing people to see unique art and learn about NFTs while eating ramen.

EZ 24 Ramen will drop its own NFT at the end of October and owning this will give you completely free access to ramen.

An exact location for the restaurant has not been released yet.
