A teenager is in police custody on suspicion of hacking as part of an investigation by the National Crime Agency.

City of London Police said a 17-year-old was arrested in Oxfordshire last night (Thursday, September 22) as part of an investigation supported by the UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).

The teenager remains in police custody, police said.

Earlier this year it was reported that a boy from Oxford was said to be a leader of a cyber-crime gang accused of making more than £10 million from hacking.

At that time, City of London Police arrested seven people aged between 16 and 21 in connection with the Lapsus$ gang, although the force would not say whether the Oxford teen was among them.
