A MUSICIAN from Wantage performed in the procession for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

The late monarch passed away peacefully at the start of the month and a state funeral was held for Her Majesty on Monday this week (September 19).

Lucas Lockley, the Wantage Silver Band’s principal euphonium player, performed in the procession as part of his position in the Band of the Coldstream Guards.

The Coldstream Guards is the oldest continuously serving regular regiment in the British Army.

In a statement on Facebook, Wantage Silver Band said: “Very proud of Wantage Band Principal Euphonium Lucas Lockley.

“Lucas is also Principal Euphonium of the Band of the Coldstream Guards and had the honour of being involved with the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.

“What an honour and privilege.”
