Today, cities across the globe marked World Car Free Day but how car free has Oxford actually been?
World Car Free Day is a worldwide event held every year on 22 September, where all around the globe towns and cities allow people to experience streets free of motor traffic.
In Oxford today, a number of companies got on board with the event.

Both Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel offered a 15 per cent discount on multi-trip tickets on their Oxford Bus Company’s mobile app.
They also took part in a social media awareness campaign to support the scheme.
Meanwhile, Oxford Brookes University gave staff a free coffee if they did not use their car to get to work.
However, there did not appear to be any social media promotion from either Oxford City Council or Oxfordshire County Council.
Using the live traffic feed on Google at rush hour, the live data showed congestion was in line with what is typical of a Monday evening.
While photographs taken this morning on some of Oxford’s busy roads still showed queuing cars.
Congestion was still prevalant on Botley Road, St Clements and Frideswide Square.
