The applicant - Neil Clarke Architecture Ltd - has proposed that eight, one bedroom flats in two adjacent blocks would be build on the unused land at rearmost extent of the property, in line with Coolidge Close, as well as secure bicycle parking and recycling and refuse storage provisions.

The flats have been designed to be in keeping with the street scene already present on Coolidge Close, with the two blocks scaled to look like terrace houses.

The bin and cycles store serving Coolidge Cottages, what the flats will be called, have been designed to ‘sink into the landscape though the use of low-level brick walls and planting’.

Both the new flats and 60 Old Road would share the garden space in-between the dwellings which will be landscaped ornamentally to create a ‘pleasant’ environment for residents.

The applicant said in the planning documents: “The landscaping strategy has been developed to foster a sense of community, limiting areas of hardstanding to the periphery, and creation of a high-quality open garden space.”
