JJB Sports was unable to confirm today whether jobs in Oxford would be affected after it announced it is closing UK 72 stores.
The retailer has stores in Magdalen Street, in Oxford, and The John Allen Centre in Between Towns Road, Oxford.
A spokesman for the company said the sports retailer is currently undertaking a consultation process with staff and that locations of closures could not be revealed at this time.
They also confirmed 1,200 jobs will be affected by the closure, with 800 members of staff set to be made redundant.
