Sir - Reg Little reports (Feature, April 11) that the health authority considers the internationally famous NOC no longer financially secure.

He spells out the madness of the Government's funding system. This fully reimburses the hospital for amputating a limb but leaves the hospital thousands of pounds out of pocket if the limb is successfully saved. Must the NOC managers adopt the Government's business model in order to keep their hospital in the black at the expense of patients' welfare?
