There is a more powerful Touareg now topping the Volkswagen 4x4 range - the R50.
Only a limited number of Touareg R50s are now on sale in the UK, and the main change is a power boost to Volkswagen's 5.0-litre V10 turbodiesel engine - up from 309 horsepower to 345 horsepower.
Translating this thrust on to the road means the R50 can hit 62mph from zero in just 6.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 146mph.
Those figures are only a fraction slower than the VW rocket Golf, the R32. The R50 costs £61,885.
