ABOUT 700 homes in the Bicester area were hit by a power cut during the early hours today.

Homes in Wendlebury were also affected, together with the traffic lights at junction nine of the M40.

Morven Smith, a spokesman for Southern Electric, said power was restored to all homes by 10am, following the power cut at 2am. The traffic lights were also switched back on by 10am.

Miss Smith said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
