A LOVING message has been laid at the scene of a crash.

The 33-year-old man died after a silver Vauxhall Astra collided with a tree on the Minster Road, between Brize Norton and Minster Lovell, near to the junction with the A40 at 8.50pm on Saturday.

Yesterday, floral tributes had been laid round the tree, along with a printed framed message saying "In Loving Memory, Matthew Melly, 1975-2008."

Formal identification of the driver is expected to be released later today by the Oxford coroner's office.

A collision into the same tree claimed the life of motorcyclist Anthony Payne, 27, a serviceman from RAF Brize Norton, in August 2006.

Last June, 44-year-old motorcyclist Jaqueline Scott, died following a collision with a car.

Witnesses to Saturday's accident should contact police on 08458 505505 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
