POLICE today appealed for information after a man was hit in the face with a bar stool at the Punch Bowl public house in Market Place, Abingdon.

A man was in the pub when he was approached by another man who picked up a bar stool and hit the victim across his face with it.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with serious facial injuries.

The assault happened at about 8.30pm last Friday.

Det Con Will Downey said: "There were other people in the area at the time including those in and around the pub.

"We are still investigating exactly what happened in this incident and I would ask that anyone who witnessed this assault to get in touch."
