THREE people were evacuated from flats in Cowley Road yesterday after fire ripped through a first-floor bedroom.
Fire crews were called to the building at 7.59am.
Ricky Byles, 18, lives on the top floor and said the fire-hit flat belonged to an elderly lady who was not there at the time.
He said: "It was a bit of a shock. I had to stand in my socks and shorts outside for ages and it was cold."
Three people were checked over at the scene by paramedics, but not thought to be seriously injured.
