FOUR cyclists are setting out on a cycle ride from Land's End to Ambrosden today to raise money for an Oxfordshire children's charity.

John Sammons and his team will set off on their 300-mile journey from Cornwall and hope to pedal into Oxfordshire on Easter Monday. This is Mr Sammons's second attempt at the ride.

Joining him on this adventure is Welsh kick-boxing champion Amy Knight-Archer, 19, her sister Claire, 23, and Claire's boyfriend, Kurt Austin, 25.

Last year, Mr Sammons raised more than £5,200 for Respite for Oxfordshire's Sick Youngsters (Rosy), which provides support to families through nursing and specialist equipment.

Mr Sammons wants to raise as much as he can as a way of thanking the charity that continues to help his family and their disabled two-year-old son Kye, who was oxygen-starved at birth.

The team aims to arrive at Ambrosden Community Centre between 2pm and 6pm on Monday, when a welcome-home party will be held. For more details and to make donations, see rosy.org.uk
