TICKETS for a star-studded comedy show in aid of Oxford's Helen and Douglas House hospice have sold out more than a month in advance.

Childish Things 4, at the New Theatre in George Street on Sunday, April 20, will feature comedians Bill Bailey, Jimmy Carr and Mitchell and Webb.

And although tickets to the event - one of the charity's biggest fundraising nights - have now sold out, people can bid for a pair of VIP tickets, which will give winners the opportunity to join the stars at a post-show drinks party.

Organiser Kate Day said: "We're utterly delighted to have sold out the show this far in advance.

"That's really down to the calibre of the performers who are happy to give up a Sunday and come and do this show for nothing.

"It's the first time Mitchell and Webb have been involved and it's fantastic that they have agreed to come and be part of it.

"It will be a fantastic show and for Oxford to have that amount of comedy talent on stage in one go we are incredibly lucky - it's quite something.

"This ticket auction offers a great opportunity to be part of a wonderful night out in the Oxford calendar."

Last year's event raised more than £40,000 for the charity, which provides care for children and young people with life-shortening and terminal illnesses. The show featured Stephen Fry, Alan Davies, Rory McGrath and Harry Enfield.

Next month's event will be Nevermind the Buzzcocks favourite Bill Bailey's first performance.

He said: "I'm delighted to be coming to Oxford and the New Theatre to be part of this year's Childish Things.

"From the sound of last year's show, people enjoyed a great night of comedy and music and raised lots of money for Helen and Douglas House at the same time, which can't be bad.

"Let's hope we have as much fun this year and raise more money for such a fantastic charity."

The line-up will be completed by Oxford a capella group Out of the Blue, comedy sketch artists The Hollow Men, and Douglas House guest and guitarist Ally Craig, who has been involved in every show.
