John Maden's letter, Left powerless (Oxford Mail, March 4), ought to be compulsory reading for all Cabinet Ministers, MPs and politicians.

In accepting the Lisbon Treaty, they will ruin democracy as thoroughly as if the country had been handed over to Hitler during the Second World War.

Then, everybody was concerned, and actions designed to lose the war were treason.

Now the public appears to be unaware of the danger which is as great as it was then.

Several politicians have committed treason in signing away the powers of Parliament, but few people care.

It baffles me.
